2 Weeks 2 Days 2 Go...

... and I'm raring to go right now...

It's been chucking down in Thailand on and off and we're about to go into the rainy season over there, but who cares...!! Not me!

My little granddaughter, along with my Lee and his lovely girlfriend Poon are just as excited as we are to this very special trip.

Who could resist this little gem... I'm such a proud Nanna and proud Mum too!!

Time waits for no man or woman... so I'm off now to sort out my bits and pieces to pack... it's just gotta be done... catch you all soon.

With love x x x

Hi ~ Thai, Bye ~ Thai ~ Learning the Language

Well here I go, trying to learn the basic language to get me by on our trip to Thailand.  Lee has done fantastically well learning the lingo, but there will be times when he won't be around and I need to know the basics... so here goes...

My name is ... ~ chan-chue...
Goodbye ~ laa-gon-ka
Nice to meet you ~ yin-dee-tee-dai-roo-jak-ka
Take care ~ doo-lae-dtua-eang-na-ka

Methinks I should learn this one first.... hehehe!!!
Can you speak English? ~ khun-pood-pa-sa-ang-grid-dai-mai-ka
or
I can't speak Thai ~ chan-pood-tai-mai-dai-ka

Yes ~ chai-ka
No ~ mai-ka
No, thank you ~ mai-ka, kob-khun-ka
Do you understand? ~ khao-jai-mai-ka
I don't understand ~ chan-mai-khao-jai-ka

Help! ~ chuay-duay!
How much? ~ tao-rai-ka?

Oh and then there are the numbers.... guess I better get my headphones on and practice.  Lee said that was the first thing he learned when visiting Thailand so he'd know how many beers he'd ordered and was paying for!!

Until next time.... Laa-gon-ka x x x

P.s. for your information the above translations are for women speakers.... all men should finish the sentence with "krap" instead of "ka"... Sounds like the Thai people have got it right... need I say more!!! Hehehe!!! x
